Cleaning the Rem 870 receiver?

How often do you guys take out the trigger group, bolt and action to clean out the receiver of the Remington 870?

It seems that it really does not get very dirty. I am doing it every time I come back from the range now, but it seems that I could do it less often...

Thanks for any input...

The 870 disassembles so easily that I always remove the bolt and trigger group when cleaning. Actually, it never occured to me not to do it, it's that simple.

It's a very simple takedown. I clean mine about every 1000 rounds on the trap 870, the others get it at least once a year, or after the season I use it in.

Just for experimentation, I'm letting the receiver go on my TB. After about 3000 rounds(am keeping track) I'll do it just to see how much grunge and grit is in there.

You can love your guns to death. It applies more to rifle barrels then shotguns, but you can wear it out by taking it apart to often.

I think Dave McC has the right idea.
