I have three questions on handgun cleaning and maintenace.

1. Is it okay to use a bore brush to clean a revolver's cylinder?

2. Is a aerosol "gun scrubber" an acceptable way to clean the internals of a automatic?

3. What type of grease or lubricant should be used on the spring of a pistol magazine?

Thanks in advance to George or anybody else that ansewers.

1: Yes, a bore brush is ok to clean the cylinder. I assume you mean the charge holes (chambers), if so a bigger bore brush than you would use for the bore would help. i.e. a well used .45 brush in a .38/.357 magnum cylinder's chambers.

2: "GunScrubber", "Gunk-Out" etc are fine for cleaning a semi-automatic's innards. Brake cleaner works just fine too.

3: Magazine springs don't normally require lubing. If you need to do so use a lube that will not contaminate primers and attract grit.

The reason I ask about the grease/lube on the magazine spring is because I recently disassembled some mags and had to clean them thus removeing all the grease that was on them. It looked like a standard light grease but before I put them back together I would like to sure.

Thanks
