Cleaning Kit

Well here's a list of a few things I've found in all three of my cleaning kits (a Swiss kit for the .30 rifle, a USGI kit for the M-16 and my Otis).

Good bore brush (I prefer brass)
Toothbrush
Small bottle of oil/lubricant
Patches

Now here are some things I've added or "prefer".

Bore Snake (.30, and .22)
Dental Picks
Qu-Tips

When I'm done at the range, I just run a bore snake through the rifle and I've found that it speeds up cleaning when I get home. The picks and the Qu-Tips are for the more detailed work.
All said if I could only rely on "one" I would opt for the Otis. It's small, it's light, and its pretty comprehensive (though some do prefer steel rods I like a cable).
One last note. Some may add a varied assortment of allen wrenches, extractors, pins, springs, etc...Sometimes not a bad idea as you can get an assortment of "emergency repair kits" for the firearm of your choice. I know they have them for 1911's and AR's.
May also pay to get a paratool. Useful, especially if you are on the range and you firearm is officially "down". This of course assumes you know what you are doing!

:D

Good luck,

Jon
