Cleaning Eotech Lenses!

I just got my Eotech 556.A65 today and I was wondering what type of products people use to clean their Eotech lenses. I have heard that Eotech does not recommend using alcohol base products like isopropyl and I have also read online in which people are against using Windex due like to the ammonia content in it. Will a regular camera lens cleaner work?

Thanks

The obvious question would be what does EOTech recommend in their literature? You got an owner's manual with your new optic?

"Use only a water-based cleaner such as glass cleaner, ammonia, or soap and water. Never use any solvent-type cleaner such as alcohol or acetone."

This was right of the maintenance manual. When in doubt whup the instructions out.

When I was younger I tended to aviod the instuction manual. Now in my older years its the first thing I reach for. lol

BTW...there are some nice zero targets for your eotech on that page myself. I even learned something!

With all my scopes and sights, I use eyeglass/lens cleaner wipes that are in individualized packets. Look like handywipes, except designed specifically for eye glasses, camera lenses, etc...

After Christmas when I took advantage of MidwayUSA's Aimpoint Micro R-1 sale , I bought two, and also a Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40 for my then-neglected but now completely overhauled and amazing Remington 597. I threw in a $10 Leupold lens pen, thinking why not.

And it's surprisingly useful in cleaning both my Nikon ProStaffs and both Aimpoint Micros... nice brush on one side that you start with, and a dry-chem pad tip on other end, to 'polish' works real well and is clean and fairly cheap.

I would like to get some of those packets too... I just noticed my Aimpoints on my HD Shotgun and HD/main AR were getting very dusty and inevitably printed/dirty etc. and needing to be cleaned every few days, so I like that lens pen.

Good advice, Madcrater. The anti-reflective coating will be damaged by alcohol and acetone. Also, never use any wood-based products (papertowel or klennex) to clean the lenses. Always use some type of lint-free cleaning cloth. They're usually provided with any type of optical device.

Thanks guys, I knew I can always count on the wisdom of this forum. The Eotech has been mounted and co-witness with my BUIS. My wife told me last night I have become a shopaholic because of this rifle. It can become so addictive, I think the forum needs to create an "FA' -Firearms Anonymous..............:) :):):) Hi, I'm Doublea A and I'm having vision problems, any firearm I see I want to buy.:D:D
