Cleaning an old S&W 1000 shotgun?

I have borrowed my brother's S&W 1000 series 12 gauge gas gun that was made in the 80's or 90's. Says made in Japan. He bought it used mostly because he got a very good deal on it from a friend of his who owned a bunch of pawn shops. He's almost never shot it, and has never cleaned it. I ran 3 boxes of shells through it the other day shooting skeet and on the last box on 3 occasions the 2nd round would get a very light primer strike and not go off. Re-chambering the round manually would make it go bang. So I'm thinking it needs some cleaning because the 2nd round was not getting cycled properly in some fashion and it just got the smallest of a dimple from the firing pin I can imagine.

Anyone have a link to a manufacturer's manual for this, or is there some website with generic enough cleaning instructions for me to get it shooting good again? I don't have to do a perfect job, just get it cycling right.

Thanks for any help!

It's a Smith and Wesson Model 1000 12 Gauge 2 3/4" chamber, Made in Japan. Must be pre-1985 manufacture after seeing on their site they discontinued long guns in 1985. Serial FC46***.
