Cleaning a Two Tone P99

What is the best way to remove the black soot that builds up around the muzzle end of the 2 tone without hurting the finish?
The finish looks like stainless but is supposed to be a silver tennifer.

Dave I have a blued P99 so I can't help you there, but I gotta ask on the name is it real. Whatever you do stay away from your neighbors dog.

well, as i started to notice that on my "blued" version when i had earl sweeten up the trigger some he recommended that i use a toothbrush soaked with what ever solvent you prefer. saturate it some, let it soak in a little and brush it away.

Yup, it's not only mine, only I had it it first. I've had it about 10 years longer than that other guy.
I can understand your asking, but who the h*ll else would want this name if they weren't born with it.
And to make matters worse, I have the same middle initial, was raised in the same part of the country, we have a strong physical similarity, and at the time of his arrest, I had a shephard/samoyed mix named Sam.
Biggest difference is that I do not own a .44.

No offense taken. This name has been an ice breaker, a small claim to fame (maybe infamy), and always adds some humor. That is how I thought you meant it and that is the way I took it.
Gotta have a sense of humor about things.

David, I also own a 'blued' (really more black to me...) P99, but I believe the polymer and coating (Tenifer) are the same between the green and black, just different pigments, therefore should clean up the same. However, YMMV, so proceed at your own discretion.

I just spoke with Earl today regarding how to clean the frame, trigger group and striker assembly, and his recommendation was to spray liberally with KleenBore Formula 3, which apparently is both a degreaser and lubricant at the same time.

The rest of the gun can be cleaned with standard techniques - Hoppes #9 for the barrel, slide scrubbed with Hoppes and a toothbrush, then relubed with CLP. Exterior should be wiped down with a silicone rag, and that should do it.

Enjoy your P99!!!
