Cleaner for laser lens

I have a Walther P99 9mm and keep the Laser Devices BA-7 laser on it the whole while I practice at the range because that's the way I carry the gun. A problem has arisen with the lens cap of the laser getting fouled up and my being unable to get all the carbon off it. I've ruined a couple of lens caps that way ($25 apiece). I read that windex and alcohol should work and they didn't, and the guy at Laser Devices said to try acetone but that didn't work either. None of them get all the gunk off unless I clean the lens immediately after use. I can't always do that. Any suggestions?
