Cleaner fluid

I'm about to buy a small parts washer - 3 1/2 gallon tank. What is a safe chemical to use in bulk? Hoppes #9 will end up costing as much as a new 1911 so that's out. What will work on blue, polly, and stainless and be able to wipe off but still leave a little preventative behind? I will still use Breakfree afterwards but a little extra will help.

Try a DUNK-IT kit. From what the ad says you drop the entire gun in the bucket and come back later. Supposed to be safe for Glocks as well.

Cleaner for a 3 1/2 gallon parts cleaner

I have been considering buying and using a 3 1/2 gallon parts cleaner, that is available for $40.00. What I would use as a cleaner is "home made" Ed's Red. Equal parts of:
Varson [Wood Floor "Cleaning Fluid"...Oil Based paint thinner.
K-1 Kerosene.
Dextron 2 or Dextron 3.
