Classified ads in local paper.

Since private transfer are legal in this state and since the local paper isn't rabidly anti-gun there are ads in the classifieds for firearms and ammunition.

I love all the M1 Grands for sale.

And the Rugars.

Smith & Westerns.

I love the ads that say "Rifle for sale. $600." Maybe a little more info, please?

I notice that most asking prices are way above full retail. My guess is that some buyers are willing to pay more for a gun without "paper."

I have bought a gun from a newspaper ad exactly once. It was about 25 years ago. I have called about several guns but in every case save one the item was sold before I called. The one I got said "Bolt action 30-06 rifle. $200."

I called and the seller told me all he knew about it was that it said Remington on it. I still have it.

Guns for sale in the newspaper are typically being sold by non-gun people. It is where you see ads like:

Old hunting rifle $300 That is a pre64 model 70 in 264 win mag and looks unused......or is a 1917 with a hacksaw barrel job and a 2x4 stock!

Or, Colt $500 that will either be a mint blued Python or a missing part bubba'd 1911.

Best is: custom 1911 $2000.......what you see is a mixmaster of unfit parts that includes freehand Dremel work on the slide and frame.....worse, the guy has papers showing he paid $3000!

For a while there was an ad running in one of the local papers here for a gun cleaning service that amongst other things, would improve the "muscle velocity" of your guns.....

Most local gun ads just make me mad. 99% of the ads are people asking more for a used gun than I can find it for new online. Apparently either everyone in my area is dumb enough to pay at or above MSRP at the local Dunham's and price their used guns accordingly or they are trying to find someone dumb enough to believe that Dunham's prices are normal and pay high for a used gun.
