Classic .45 ACP Revolvers?

Has anyone seen any classic .45 ACP revos?
I'm really looking for something more unique than Taurus or Ruger.
Both are great guns from good manufacturers, but I'm looking for something classy. I've always been a big fan of unique, odd, or just plain off the wall firearms.
Other than the US 1917, what's out there?
.455 Webley conversions maybe? I've seen one or two, but don't know much about them.
Anyone know the going price on an average condition 1917?
I know there's lots of knowledge stored up around here, so somebody share with us. :D

BTW: No real defined purpose for this one. Plinking/range/fun and maybe some light horseback utility work from time to time. Barrel length and frame size are not big issues.
Fire away, guys and gals.

Smith and Wesson made a Model 25 sometimes chambered in .45ACP as well as .45LC. Absolutely beautiful, classic revolvers. Later they made the model 625, a newer version of the 25, but I don't recall if it's still in production. Other folks here can provide more details.

Tipoc,

Very nice - a 1917, a Model 25 and what appears to be another M25 with a non-factory "bobbed" barrel that was nicely done. Or is that an uncataloged custom job?

S&W currently makes 3 different Model 625 .45 ACP revolvers

there's a 4" and a 5" N frame with a full lug bbl, as well as a 4" Jerry Miculek special. See their website.

For older S&W .45 ACP revolvers there was the
Model 1917 (about $400 around here),
the Brazillian contract gun of the same design,
Model 1950 Army,
Model 25 1950 Target,
Model 25 1955 Target,
Model 625 in 3", 4", and 5" full lug bbls
as well as a 4" Mountain Gun

what else have I missed?

I got bit by the .45 ACP revolver bug bad last year. I have a 4" 625 Mountain Gun, and a 3" 625. I'm always on the hunt for another. A friend I work with has a 1950 Target that I am currently coveting.

Great toy, fast reloads.

Great suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Those are some great pictures, too.

Pete, you should be ashamed of yourself for pulling that one round :D

Thanks a lot guys. Seems a round through the local shops is now in order.

A nice pre-25 with Coke grips and 50 shots at 15 yards. I was bummed when I pulled that one....
Yeah, it really sucks shooting 50 rounds and ending up with TWO holes. . .good shootin'!

Bill,
A 1937 Brazilian Contract gun, M25-2 with a 6 1/2" barrel, M25-2 2 7/8" barrel. The latter being a cut down and rounded butt gun from the John Jovino Co. in N.Y. has a few other touches as well.
