Class III Weapons

Does anyone know what is actually considered a class lll weapon? Is it just military surplus, or does it include all fully automatic weapons? I understand that a civilian can actually buy one of these if he jumps through a few legal hoops. Is this correct? Can someone set me straight on this?

You might have better luck if you ask this on TFL's own NFA Forum. But the link above has good info also. Below is just an overview. I'm leaving out a lot of info:

Mil surplus is usually Curio and Relic

Basically the following:
Suppressors
Full-auto/selective fire
Short-barreled rifles and shotguns
Pistol grip only rifles and shotguns with short barrels (Classified as "Any Other Weapon")
"Destructive devices"
Anything over .50 caliber

If your state/locality allows it, and you can pass the check and pay the $200 dollar transfer tax, you can own the above.

Also pay the high prices for the weapons.

Thanks, tyme, that answered a lot of questions. I'll have to check here locally to see what the laws are regarding these weapons.

Also, smince, I'll check that forum to see if there's any more info. Thanks
