Clark Custom Guns - .44 Moonclip Conversion Question

I've got two Redhawks, a 4" and a 5.5", in .44.

I'm toying with having the 4" cylinder re-worked by CCG to accept moonclips.

Will I still be able to single-load cartridges sans moonclips afterwards?

Any other caveats I should consider?

Moon clips for rimmed cartridges? Who told you about this modification? And just exactly what would be the advantage? If it is for speed loading, get a speed loader.

No, modifying the firearm to accept ammo loaded in moon clips would involve removing metal from the rear face of the cylinder. Without moon clips, you would have a serious headspace issue to deal with.

Az we moon clip 44s all the time..its a nice conversion and you can single load thereafter as it does not affect headspace due to the design of the conversion.

I have several hundered rounds through my moonclipped mountain gun

And just exactly what would be the advantage?

Does it balloon the case head due to lack of support, similar to a Glock in .40? Or are we talking about too little material removed to make reloading the cases a concern?
