Clamp-On Bipod, Do they work?

Looking at getting a metal clamp-on bipod to use on my SKS and Mauser for shooting at the field. I was just wondering how well they work, if they fit snug or not?

I think you are talking about a bipod that clamps onto the swivel stud. If this is the case, I own a Harris bipod that is currently sitting on my Savage 7mm Rem Mag. From my standpoint, the Harris bipod has been exceptional. It's adjustable from the prone position to the sitting position. I hunt a lot out west and feel pretty comfortable taking shots out to 300 yards using the bipod. While that's not a really long shot for some people, I'm a Kentucky boy and a 100 yard shot is a long shot where I hunt.

As far a stability, the bipod clamps around the stud and is tightened by a screw head. Hand tightening the head will firmly attach the bipod to the rifle and the bipod becomes very stable. You can't go wrong with a Harris.

I used to have an ak47 bipod (I think it was because it had a little cutout for the cleaning rod) that just happened to fit nicely on everything. I wish I had another one.

If it's a heavy bipod that clamps to the barrel when opened, and it's less than 20 bucks, jump on it.
