In Salt Lakes Deseret Morning News there was the following article showing that some people do help others by getting involved. I am impressed that we have people like Mr Winston.

Kevin Winston came to the aid of a police officer involved in a scuffle. "I'm very grateful everything turned out all right," Winston said.
Winston was getting a cup of coffee at a drive-through window near 900 W. North Temple about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. When he pulled in the parking lot he saw an officer approaching a man. When he looked back again, the officer was on the ground fighting with the man.
"The policeman and this guy were going at it," Winston said. "I just jumped out of my car to go over and help the policeman."
When he got up to the fight, Winston said, he "saw a lot of blood coming from the policeman's face."
"He had the guy down, but he didn't have control of the situation," he said. "(The suspect) had his hand on the policeman's gun. He told the policeman, 'I got your gun.' "
The man was not able to get the gun out of the holster, however. Winston grabbed the man's arms and pulled them away from the officer's gun. He then pulled the man's arms to the side and held them until the officer could handcuff him.
The officer, whose name police did not release Wednesday, suffered a broken nose and other cuts and scratches.
The officer was investigating an armed robbery at Country Cleaners, near 900 W. North Temple. A man had just robbed the business at knifepoint, said Salt Lake City police detective Robin Snyder.
The officer spotted a man who matched the robber's description and stopped to talk to him. But as soon as the officer approached, the man started swinging at him, Snyder said.
Winston said he was just happy he was able to help.
"I just thank God I was there at that time," he said. "This is my community. This is where I live. I would rather see this guy locked up. It could have been me (being attacked). . . . I'm very grateful everything turned out all right. I feel good."
Officers discovered the arrested man was carrying a knife. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery and assault on a police officer.
