Citadel 1911 Compact new issue

I love this little 1911. For some reason it handles and points better for me than my full size units that I have been shooting for many years. So far about 500 rounds shot. No malfunctions except loading first round I see they nosedive and will jam unless I make sure to release slide abrubtly from full aft.

I have the same original mag issue complained about elsewhere, except that mine will accually allow the HP round to bang around and find it's way into the chammer if slide dropped from full aft. It definitely nose dives and it's too quick for me to see how it maneuvers into the chamber. I need to fix that with a better mag.

Now the new issue: Ejection is about straight up and makes a pronounced dent in the side of the case. Most cases fall slightly fwd of shooting postion.

Now I notice a cluster of brass smear markings on the slide just forward of the ejection port (at about 2 o'clock). So the case is going through some gymnastic feat in departing the gun and whacking the slide just fwd of the port. Plus P rounds actually hit the cieling over my head and bounce down on my head. Can't hurt anything there, but it's unusal and I want to figure out how to toss my empties sideways and aft like my other pistol. Wish I could see it in slow motion.

Thanks for all wisdom, ideas, personal experience, fixes and OK, even opinions.

If you visit a 1911 forum (or do a google search), you will find some advice on how to 'kiss" the ejector with a file a few times and produce the desired ejection pattern.

If you pull the slide/barrel you can look at the ejector and visualise the case coming rearward, and where the case will hit the ejector, and its path of travel from that point...

A few strokes of the file will get you where you want to be. And if you screw it up, a new ejector is neither expensive nor terribly difficult to replace.

I had a DW 10mm CBOB that was mangling its brass badly. That brass is not cheap or easy to find, so that was a serious problem for me.

A bit of ejector massage worked wonders. Smooth, reliable function, undamaged brass, and brass consistently thrown out at about 10 o'clock.

Best regards, Rich

Edited to add: If this is somewhat general, and you would like some more specific details, please pm me.
