Cimarron Arms Model P .45 Colt BP accuracy...and lost screw!

Took the Model P back to the range today and shot various loads, including a box of Black Dawge cartridges (235 grain RNFP loaded over Goex blackpowder). To say it shot well would be an understatement. One flyer on my part ruined a fantastic group.

But the sad part was when I got home and started to clean it, I noticed the bolt screw had fallen out and is now lost. Hopefully it will not take Cimarron Arms long to send me a replacement screw. I bought it in July of 2011 so it shouldn't be an issue....I hope.

i have 2 uberti cattlemen and one cimarron thunderer all in 45. great guins, very accurate and extremly fun to shoot. my favorite revolvers.

You really need to put together a parts kit with some of the smaller screws, a bolt spring and whatever else you might loose/need. I'm ordering a few more screws on payday.

Probably not a bad idea; I'm just a little shocked at losing a screw after only two trips to the range. Normally I'd be really pee-oed at something like this, but the darned thing shot so well, I can't!

Just check your screws before and after each shooting session and you'll be fine. At a Cowboy Shoot it's very common for folks to loose a screw. I've seen several ejector assemblies go all to pieces. Most Cowboy Shooters have a screwdriver in their stuff somewhere.

I'm not doubting that at all. I was just a little surprised as it is a new revolver and has only been to the range once before this incident.

But I am more dejected than angry. This wheelgun shoots too great to get furious over something like that. Other than now I cannot shoot again until it gets replaced! ;)

What round were you shooting for the target pictured? Did you have any problems getting it to point of aim? Finally at what distance?
The reason I ask is my Cimarron "Pistole Model P" holds very tight groups, but consistently 4 to 6 inches low. I know I can do a little elevation adjustment with a Nicholson sight adjustment tool (file), but want to wait until I settle on a load I want to use in it.

That load was Black Dawge 235 grain RNFP over Goex blackpowder. So far it has shot every 250-255 grain load well and to point-of-aim from 7 and 15 yards. That is a 7 yd (21') target, shot offhand. The Buffalo Bore 255 grain Keith SWC shot just as well. And a helluva lot easier to clean up afterwards, too.

The only load that shot low so far were 200 grain RNFP Magtech cowboy action cartridges, but that was to be expected.

Thanks. I'll probably keep the file away from the front sight for a while. I'm thinking of keeping in the 250-255 GR range with cowboy action velocities. Just have to start getting some loads worked up.

That's exactly what it is. My buddy got them; I'd like to find out where. They are great targets.

Cimarron Arms answered my e-mail and told me they are sending me a replacement screw. That's a load of my mind!

Chris from Cimarron Arms responded to my e-mail promptly and shipped me a replacement bolt screw ASAP. I received it yesterday, and I degreased it and the threads in the frame and installed it this morning (with a little clear nail polish on the threads per Chris' instruction).

All is well! It works perfectly fine again and is ready to shoot once my ammunition supply gets here from the guys in brown.

Kudos to the customer service at Cimarron Arms.
