Chuchill SxS

A local shop has a Churchill SxS 10ga on the rack for $400. This would seem like a good deal for any double, much less a 10ga; almost too good. I know next to nothing about double guns, but I do know that there have been a lot of inexpensive doubles imported over the years; some good and some not so good. My question is does anyone know anything about this brand and if so is $400 a decent price?

There are Churchills and there are Churchills.

Those made by the company started by ET Churchill and ran later by Robert Churchill are very good shotguns.

Those made in Spain and sold by a conglomerate that bought the name are not in the same league, though not junk.

10 gauges work for waterfowl if they are suited for non tox ammo. Most/all of the Spanish guns are not.

Unless it realy speaks to you, I'd give this one a pass.

Thank you, I'll have a closer look at it. I assume the later ones will say "Made in Spain" on them somewhere which would be a sign to pass. If it's not a later Spanish one, I'll probably have to buy it, I've always had this strange desire for a 10ga double.
