So I am very frustrated with my Chrony F1 chronograph. I have been testing it out in my basement using an airsoft gun and a .22. I can get it to read the airsoft gun if I use A LOT of lighting in the room however no matter what I try I can't get it to read the .22. I am not thinking of returning it to Midway. I might get a new chronograph but since they all use light then the new more expensive one might have all the same problems. Any suggestions? Also are there any chronographs that use something other than light?
 
I have the same chrony and i use mine outside only. I have never had any luck getting it to work inside.From what i understand they work from the shadow created by the projectile flying over the sensors.
 
I had the Shooting Chrony (F1?) and Hated it...a total POS.. So I thought, maybe it is just a Lemon...so I bought another one.

After this piece of crap wasted enough of my time, I had had enough and she earned herself a 320gr hardcast from the 454 Casull, right in the teeth:D

I bought a Pro Chrono and have been MUCH happier with its preformance. Wish I would have shot the fold-up Chrony years ago.

If you do choose the Pro-Chrono, I suggest swapping the steel shade rods for wood dowels... If you clip one of the steel rods it can break your chrono.. the wood dowel is more forgiving
 
I finally got it to work in my basement by hangin a 200 watt lightbulb 5ft above it and putting in the sun shades. I tested using .22 CBs. The velocities varied from 510 to 720 FPS.

Thats $50 wasted. You could probably have sold it for that much.
 
I've had one for 20 years, no problems. I check mine every year with archery equipment. Make sure you haven't pinched the sensor wires in the metal case.

Funny how some want to complain about a product and not follow directions that it is supplied with. They offer a INDOOR lighting kit if you want to use it indoors.

Mine works perfectly when used in full sunlight outside as it was designed to. Mine has measured arrows from 225fps to .270 @ 3013fps. Never a problem.
