Chopping revolver barrel ?

Morning all,

I have a M65 S&W with the 4 in heavy barrel. I am enamoured with the 3 inch version, but can't locate one. (looked for a couple of years) As I bought the M65 used and at a good price, I'm thinking of having a 'smith cut the barrel and mount a front sight.

Any thoughts as to cost or who should do it?

Giz, I do quite a bit of this kind of work. You can figure on prices ($110 in my shop) ranging from $95 to $175 depending on who does it and whether or not they are able to use the original front sight or a new one. You can e-mail me if you like. I'd be happy to do it for you. George
