Choking a 18.5 mossberg barrel.

I have a 18.5 barrel on my mossberg 500 that sits by my bed but the one thing i wish it had is choke tubes. Typically it's loaded with a nice mix of 00 buck and low recoil slugs. However I think that it would be nice if I could put tubes in this barrel so that I can use it for hunting and HD.
Really I think a poly choke installed would suit me best. Any ways I saw some tools in Brownells for drilling out a bore and then some sleeves that can be soldered in. Is this the way to go or is there a better way to have it done?
Also will this change prove to be benificial in hunting applications.
Thanks.

it would cost $60-$100 to get chokes in and you may be limited to accu-choke or tru-choke. the barrel might be on the thin side for accu-chokes which would limit you to tru choke.

for the $70-$80 you might be able to get a 18.5" heavy wall and threaded barrel with choice of one choke tube from Havlin Sales http://www.havlinsales.com
close out barrel section.

mossberg has a 20" vent ribbed barrel thats threaded and takes chokes that goes for around $120 comes with 3 chokes

Mossberg bbl.

Sir:
You're used to that old Mossberg by your bed - change it and you've changed your senario! I'd go buy a "hunting" Mossberg and leave that one be!
You don't want to get confused when the elephant comes!

Huge +1!!!

Just did the same thing last week myself. Ordered the barrel from them online on Saturday night and it was on my doorstep on Wed (and Mon was Veteran's Day).

69.99 plus 12.00 shipping. 81.99 total.

Vic and Cheryl are great people to deal with. This is the third or fourth barrel I've bought from them over the years and they've always delivered promptly and offer great customer service before and after the sale.
