Choke for slugs

I have a 26" barrel with a mossberg C-select type choke that is plain ugly. As I understand, slugs ought to be fired in improved cylinder or open choke. I am not going to use this barrel for anything else so I was wondering if I could simply cut the barrel back to 24" with no choke at all. What type accuracy at 50 yards could I expect. I would use this gun for hog hunting in the bush. I also thought I could epoxy glue on some open type rifle sights.

Slugs are most accurate with a rifled barrel, next best a rifled choke least accurate with smooth bore .In your case , not knowing the bore dimensions, accuracy will not be known until you cut the barrel and try.Is uglyness worth the risk ?

It'd probably work OK, but no real advantage over using the barrel as is.

Cylinder bores vary greatly in how well they'll handle a given slug. Mostly, they work as well as a similar barrel with a modest amount of choke, but not always.

The Clect choke can be used with slugs as long as you stay on the open end. When tightened radically, there's a chance of breaking off the "Petals".
