Has anyone ever removed material from a Choate rifle stock to lighten it up a bit? The butt is hollow, the majority of weight is forward and with a heavy bull barrel it makes for one tipsy rifle. Could I possible mill some .25 horizontal or vertical lines in the barren channel or on the outside of the fore end? Or not drill out the plastic at all, just drill holes underneath the aluminum track for the sliding swivel? Would this amount to much weight reduction at all? The stock is heavier than my, well it's heavy.
