CHL Insurance - Need?

I'm looking for advice on the need for such insurance, and what to look for in a policy.

According to my attorney, shoot someone expect to pay $10k for openers and if it gets messy, sign over my house to him. Then get ready for the civil suit.

We have seen the growing trend that occurs when a criminal is shot in self-defense. The big out-of-state money with an agenda comes after you. I think I read that Zimmerman has over $2 million in unpaid legal fees.

Obviously there is a need for this if you own more than your pickup.

Does anyone have experience with these policies and what to look for when buying one? If it's allowd on this board, please be specific with companies names.

Thanks for the advice....

Take a look at the Armed Citizen's Legal Defense Network on line. You may want to join. They provide education about the legalities of using deadly force for self defense and how to interact with the criminal justice system.

The chance that you'll need auto insurance in your lifetime are pretty high. The same goes for medical insurance. But the chance that you'll ever use your firearm in self defense and then need to spend lots of money in legal fees is extremely small. Extraordinarily small, in fact. You'd be better off spending that money on an insurance plan that covers a more likely occurrence like flood damage or something like that.

If you've protected yourself in every other way possible, then I guess it doesn't hurt to get this kind of insurance. But spending money to prepare for something that's extremely unlikely to ever happen doesn't make sense if you're not covered for something else that's much more likely to occur.
