A little drive north into the Galleria area, Top Gun Range. I took mine there, they do a 2-night class, or a single full-day class. Great facilties, my instructor was Ken Dexter, top notch guy.

+1 for Shooter's Station in Conroe. That's where I took my CHL class, about 6 months ago. Low key, laid back, but I really felt like I was getting quality instruction.
Just a few miles away you could go to The Marksmen, its on Nabraska and Spencer Highway, there number is 713-944-3520
My Wife, Dad, Mom and 5 or 6 friends of mine all took the class there one Saturday about a year ago, I go shoot there all the time, Great people and very friendly

Being as the CHL class with range shoot is all done in one day, it's not a big deal to travel a little around town to get to a good place.
I got mine through Pruitt's, and it all went pretty slick.
They're right off of Hwy 290 on Huffmeister, so it's a quick freeway trip to get there from just about anywhere in town.

CHL Fees?
From what I've gathered the fees are as follows:
Basic handgun class (if you don't currently own and shoot): $100-$125
CHL Class $100-$125
Texas State Handgun License $140
So roughly $350 total plus your gun and ammo. Is that correct?
Just trying to figure out entire cost.

Can anyone recommend someone on the North Side of Houston? Spring, Woodlands, Conroe area....
I talked with a CHL instructor at the gun show and he said not to go to Shooter's Station (which I have been there before) b/c they don't practice good gun safety. Example, they have a counter BEHIND the shooting station. Which means someone could load their gun, spin around (pointing the firearm in your direction) to get back to the shooting station. Lots of bullet holes in the back counter. Not a good idea, so any place OTHER than Shooter's Station. Thanks!!!

Every thing you said is pretty much correct if you go to the website there is more information available. We teach private classes at you location with small groups or we have a classroom location if need be.
We do fingerprints, notary, all state paperwork and at the end of class the entire packet is ready to drop in the mail.

The Gun Emporium in Conroe is a good place to take the CCL course.They do fingerprints,pictures and the course for 1 fee.Their phone # is 936-441-4040.
If you don't mind a short drive east down I-45 to Texas City, there is a lady there that teaches a CHL class. I have a couple of co-workers whot have used her and were very happy with her. I have talked to her and plan to use her for my renewal. her name escapes me at the moment, but The name of her business is Elite Sound & Security, INC. Address is 2437 Palmer Hwy. Phone is 409.948.6100. Store also has a good stock of pistols at decent prices. They are also a title 3 weapons dealer if that sort of thing lifts your skirt. The CHL shooting portion is taken at the Texas City Police Range.
Also, there is T's Guns and Ammo on loop 197. Small store, but fair inventory.Gun prices are a bit on the high side for in stock guns, but owner cuts a pretty good deal on special orders. Bid deal is they have a pretty good stock of ammo, even getting .380 on a regular basis. Don't have T's exact address or phone number at the moment,but can get it for you if any one needs or wants it.
