Chip McCormick 1911 mags-good?

I just ordered a sistema 1911 from cruffler and need some decent mags for it. CDNN has Chip McCormick tactical 8rd mags for $10 (blue). Does anyone have experience with these? I might spring for a Wilson mag too, but I can get 2 or 3 McCormicks for the same price.

Got four of them

About three years ago I ordered some of those mags from the same company and have had zero problems. They work. I've shot everything from hps, lead wads, and fmj. off of them.

I have no complaints and often use them as my carry mags for a 1911.

I believe they make the magazines for Kimber. I've got four. Three are perfect, one is a total piece of garbage.

Springfield sells their 1911's with two Chip McCormick 7 rounders. The ones I got work flawlessly. I'm planning on ordering a few 8 rounders, but the guy's business is here in Austin, pretty close to where my parents live... I'm thinking about calling down there and seeing if I can go down there and pick up a few, instead of having to wait for them to ship!

I have several of the Power 10's and they function perfectly. So well, in fact, that a lot of my friends have ordered them.

They are the ones shipped with Kimer. I bought a new Kimber & bought (2) 10 rd "Power Mags" and one extra 8rd Power Mag. Never a problem. I really like how they have holes that show you how many rounds you have in and teh "Power Mags" also include numbers by the holes.

These magazines use high quality "Wolf" springs and the Power Mags use a stronger spring.

I sprayed inside mine with "Break Free CLP" and then shook out the extra. It made it much easier to put the cartridges in and will probably cut wear on the sides of the springs.

I´m using Chip McCormick mags (SS) in my Colt Commander and Sistema since two years ago; never had problems.

About two-thirds of the people shooting at my local IDPA club are satisfied with their McCormick magazines - at least, I haven't heard them complain.

About one-third of the people have sworn off them, usually after a long string of invective, and switched to Wilson.

MatthewM:

I've wanted to lube mine as you describe, but several people have warned me that Breakfree left inside the mag might work its way through the primer pockets and cause fouling (because it is supposed to be a fairly good penetrant). Have you had any problems? Have you stored any mags loaded for a substantial period? If there's no real problem, I'll Breakfree mine too.

Thanks for your input.

If using breakfree inside the mag well, I would suggest letting it cure for a few days. Might lessen the chance of oil penetration/contamination of primers.

I wouldn't worry as much about primer contamination as I would about lubrication on a live round in the chamber.

If you use break free or any other lube in the magazine, wipe it off afterward, so as to leave no dripping residue.
