Chinese Makarov

Well I found one in a small gun shop in the middle of nowhere, a Chinese Norinco Type 59 Makarov in very good condition for less than most people are paying for Bulgarians. I would say fit, finish and quality is somewhere between Bulgarian Military and East German (closer the the Bulgie though). The safety lever is low quality and needs to replaced if I use it as a shooter, but blueing is 95%+ and everything is original chinese. So Mak-lovers, what do you suppose it's worth?

This is from Karl's excellent www.makarovpistol.com website, but is an identical copy of my new Norinco Mak. Just through I would throw it in for reference. Thanks Karl!

dang, why I can't find any of those makarov?
my chinese mak has mirror like glossy deep blue finish, yours too?

Yep, the blueing is very dark and deep. I am almost afraid to shoot it for fear of reducing it's value (even though it has been previously fired). I was looking for a used East German or new Bulgarian for CCW. Anyone use a Chinese for concealed carry? I am thinking about putting it up for sale or trade, but will probably need to find someone who is trying to fill out their Mak collection.
Any thoughts on value?

I also forgot to mention that there is one defect, the previous owner decided that he didn't care for having serial numbers. So he crudely attempted to scratch them off. The dealer got it at a Police-auction and polished / reblued the area. The serial number on the slide is 85% back to original condition but the serial number on the frame is still scratched up (but smooth and blued). However these are really minor defects and the numbers are clearly visible.

There is also a triangle with a "56" in it on the frame.

Here are some pics. Belive it or not the serial number damage looks worse in the pictures than it does in person.

Well, I paid $200 for mine!! Maybe not a bargin, but it just about completed the collection!!! ;) Great looking Mak. I have decided to keep mine unfired. Hey, I also got the same cheezy box!!! :D

hewww,,, I thought I was the only dumb one who paid more than 200$(don't remember how much was, 250$???) for chinese .380 mak,
:D
I got that cheesy looking box too,(looks like hand painted by cheap chinese labor), and 2 mag with electro penciled matching # with mak, 1 extra rear sight, sight adjusting small screw driver, no holster though) but I bought dozen mag from makarov.com and only use those, so far my mak went through about 1k ammo,

I am on duty tonight, so I had my partner take it to the Police range with his East German Mak. Shot straight, fed perfectly, no malfunctions of any kind, smooth as it should be. If I decided to keep it, I may just have a shooter afterall!

Makarov prices vary widely on where you live. Around here you can pick up a Bulgarian for $140. Sometimes you can find an oddball for $99.
I just came back from the range with my commercial Russian and it is still a beautiful thing! I would suggest getting rid of the plastic grip and getting a Hogue or something else more comfortable. :D
