Chinese Entertainment (5.8x42mm)

This thing looks like a barrel of laughs. With all the plastic, it has to be cheap to manufacture. Are there any semi versions of the Type 95 imported? It seems like they would be cheap and entertaining...

What about this 5.8x42mm round? Can it be found in the US? Is it worth a damn?

China? Importing military pattern guns into the US? Looks like the No-Go gage fits.

Probably not much different from a Bushy M17S.

Yeah, real cool. Talk crap about a gun you will never touch.

Is that the stereotype now? Anything Chinese is bound to be of low quality? Soon it's going to be anything Asian is bound to be of low quality.:barf:

The first mention of low quality was your post. The original post discussed the apparent inexpensive nature of the manufacturing process, which is of course one of the main reasons for going with polymer.

In other words, the only stereotype present is the knee jerk reaction of some who see an issue where none exists.

Actually my post was in response to the prior post saying importing Chinese military style weapons would never happen. We already know that Chinese military weapons can and will sell in this country, as proven by Norinco back in the 1980s (yes, I know they were banned from importing guns, and it was for this very reason). I never said anything about quality.

Never mind. Once you have to explain it, it isn't funny!

I wouldn't expect to see the weapon or the ammo in the US any time soon. Actually I wouldn't expect to see many of them in China any time soon -- next big thing, and I think I read some units were issued them, but most of their guys are still getting by with AK clones and such.

That's probably the case. But I saw 2 cheaps and a barrel of laughs, and it WAS worth a damn, to point out.:p

Any and every military pattern firearm from any country will sell here. Norinco, however, has been ruled out and, IMO, will never be let in again. As noted, other avenues are available to them, just not as Norinco (and Polytech) or evil looking military pattern.

There is no question Chinese guns will sell here. They just won't sell by government decree.

Hey now the 5.8 is supposed to be China's solution to the low powered 5.45x39 and the 7.62x54R. Correct me if I'm wong. :D josh

Yeah, I heard about that too...
The extra-hot MG version of the 5.8x42 can't compare to the 7.62x54R in any way. That monsterous rooski .30cal round will stick around for a good long while.

But hey, we thought the full-auto M14 would replace all of our SMGs and medium MGs, and look how great that turned out...

Modern warfare is amazing. It will get more interesting as time goes.
"Phased-plasma rifle in the forty watt range" josh

The Chinese are not allowed to sell ammunition, handguns, or semiauto shoulder arms here in the U.S., at least until the .gov changes its mind. That makes acquisition of a ChiCom-manufactured EBR chambered in a ChiCom-only cartridge a pretty iffy proposal.

"then how come Norinco side by side shotguns are commonly found new in stores right now? Hmmmmm...."

Because a SxS is neither ammunition, a handgun, or a semiauto long gun. Pay attention.

Didn't Norinco get into some heat due to selling some MAK90/91 models that had full auto firing assembly in them? If they can make a SxS or Bolt gun like they made 1911s then they may be worth looking at. josh

Yes, a shipload of AKs with too many selector positions was intercepted in CA back in the day. Also, an early batch of pre-'89 Norinco AKs drew the ATF's ire for having one too many holes in the reciever...
