Chilean 1895 Mauser Carbine Opinions

I recently picked up an 1895 Chilean Mauser Carbine for a song. Bubba has had his way with it and I was wondering if it would be worth bringing it back to at least it's military configuration. Let me start with what was done to it.
1. Stock forend was cut to the rear band.
2. Rear sight and sleeve was removed.
3. Butt plate was removed and a cheesy recoil pad was added.
Other than that it's pretty complete. All numbers match to include the bent bolt.

Is it worth fooling with or would I be better served using the reciever to build a sporter? Thanks for the opinions in advance.

I definitely prefer the oldies to be in "as issued" trim. My 7mm Chilean Mauser top, 6.5mm Swedish Mauer bottom...

You may find it hard to find what you need to return it to milspec. It may be easier and cheaper to just find another rifle in original condition and use your carbine for a sporter.
 
Agreed. It will more than likely cost you more to restore it than what you would pay for an original one.

On the other hand, if you could scrounge the needed parts for little or nothing over a period of years, it might be worth it
