I am looking for more info on the chicago palm pistol. or any palm pistols for that matter. I have been trying to find the original patent drawings, or just some schematics for one. The Chicago palm was made in the U.S. buy the Chicago Fire Arms company. it was called "The Protector". It was originally designed by Jacques Edmond Turbiaux of Paris in 1882. I have one patent #732644 and one that may be MCH.6,83,AUG.29,93 I would apreciate any help.

There are a couple of pages on palm pistols in the book Firearms CuriosabyLewis Winant. According to the book the patent number is 273,644. This patent is for the "Protector" on March 6, 1883 by Jacques Turbiaux, Paris, France. Previous patents had been granted also. A further patent was granted to Peter H. Finnegan, Austin, Illinois on August 29, 1893, patent 504,154.
The Chicago Fire Arms Co. apparantly was a distributor or some other sort of seller. They appear to have been actually made by Ames Sword Co.
A search using "palm pistol" on http://www.google.com brought up quite a few hits, mainly auction sites. There were many brands made.
To check on patents you can access the U.S Patent Office at http://www.uspto.gov.

My records indicate that the Chicago Firearms Co, Chicago, Illinois, Protector Palm Pistol was mfg'd in the 1890's. About 12,800 were made.
they were made in .32 caliber extra short rimfire. It has a sqieezer type pistol with rotary chambers. Nickel plated finish was standard. The blued version is quite scarce. Only about 1000 blued were mfg'd. The blued are in serial number range of 3700 to 5400. To the best of my knowledge this pistol is now declassified and is considered an antique.
