I've been doing some reading on the Cimarron "El Dorado" model and noticed that Charles Daly also offers a similar model, and that both are imported from Chiappa.

I'm seriously considering buying one of these rifles and would like to know just how any other manufactures are importing them so I can compare pricing.

What I'm looking for is a Winchester 1892 "replica" with a case hardened frame, 20" round barrel, large loop lever, and preferably chambered for .357.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
 
I have handled many of this '92 clone made by Chiappa (i'm italian and meet Mrs Chiappa at shooting match several time per year)
Are very well done, the action is smooth, no trouble (i remember only a short rifle of a my friend where tubolar magazine had tendency to go forward, but easy to refit with the pin in the barrel lug)
If you like it my advice is go quite with it.
I see in CAS the .38 special is the most wanted.

I'll be going with the El Dorado.
I was really impressed with the looks of the gun.
And the finish and fit was superb!

I have a sister model imported by Charles Daly and I've been very happy with it.

Dino, Charles Daly is out of business, so that might have some effect on your purchase - I know that inventory is working through the system, but if the company is OOB, that might make service a little problematic.

I believe the Charles Daly was also made by Chiappa, wasn't it?
 
The Armi Sport (Chiappa's trade name) 1892 is a very well made rifle. Steve McQueen fans should check out their Mare's Leg version. I believe they are imported into the US by Taylor's.
Chiappa made the 1892 rifle and Pietta made the SAA clone for the NRA set a few years back.

FWIW, the Chiappa 1892 rifles are true replicas of a Winchester 1892. Screw pitches are in US pitch and match originals, not metric like most if not all of the other 92s on the market. Magazine tubes are the same diameter as Winchester mags. Feed ports are a leaf spring like the originals, instead of hinged with a coil spring. Leaf springs are used for hammer and trigger instead of coil springs. A very nice rifle, especially considering the price. Pretty high on my list of rifles to buy!

Does this mean that I can use disassembly/assembly guides made for the Winchester 1892 for my Cimarron (made by Chiappa)?

Also ...
Some folks on other internet forums are saying that the Cimarron's internal parts were weak and prone to breakage. And that, internally, the Rossi (made in Brazil) is a better gun. That lead me to believe that maybe the design was different as well. I dunno.

Is there any truth to that?
 
Yes, you can use Win 92 disassembly guides to disassemble the Chiappa 1892s. If the Cimarron parts are prone to breakage, it may be due to faulty heat treating of leaf springs and such.

Rossi 92 looks like a 92 on the outside, but has been heavily modified on the inside (coil springs, pinned rails, roll pins instead of solid pins, etc). Still a strong gun, just not built like the originals.
 
this is not a 1892 chiappa rifle, but a CD little sharps chiappa in winchester 44-40 and it is a dandy rifle at about 6 lbs. eastbank.

dino, they are my duck dancing black wing tip advantage camoed rocky,s. if i can find a CD little sharps in 30-30 i,ll buy it. the 44-40 is so light you don,t mind carrying it, i think one in 30-30 would give a little more range. eastbank.
