I'm not sue if this is the proper forum to post this but here goes anyway.

I have an opportunity to buy a Sig 226 that can be either nickel or chrome plated (my chioce).

Does anyone have any experience with "Checkmate" regarding plating?

Thanks,
CMOS

Checkmate of Brooksville, FL hardchromed a 1911 for me a few years back. Among my circle of shooting friends, there are two more 1911's that Checkmate hardchromed. All three pieces were very nicely done.

Given the choice between nickel and hardchrome, I would go with hardchrome. It is not as corrosion resistant as nickel, but it is much harder.

My Colt Officers ACP is at Checkmate right now being brush harchrome. They do great work. I'll let you know when I get it back which should be anyday. Usually takes avout 6 weeks. I had them do another 1911, brush hardchrome. It was beautiful.

Great to hear success with Checkmate. I've got a couple SIGS that I want to get refinished. Does anyone have any info on how to contact them? Do they have a website? Thanks for the help!
