Just bought a 4x20 scope from J&G sales (www.jgsales.com) .
seems to be well made, a little heavier than i wanted but a great buy at $39.95!! mounts on the carry handle. no additional parts needed.
Seems like they have pretty good prices on new and used guns, ammo, mags and optics.
anyone else bought from them?

I've been a customer of J & G for several years & had good service. Congrats on your new scope & I hope it serves you well.
In my experience I've learned you pretty much get what you pay for.

Yeah, i dont have any delusions that this is comparable to a $1000 scope,
but its good enough for what i want.
theyve got "arsenal refinished" Mosin M44 carbines for $79.95! "very good to excellent condition" with bayonet!
might just have to buy a $80 gun.

Also, with the uniqueness of an AR, don't have any delusions that you need a $1,000 scope. The funny thing is a $300 springer air gun needs a more expensive scope and that is because of the inherent abusive recoil that those guns generate both in a forward and rearward direction. Conversely, because an AR is a gentle recoiler, they have a less demanding budget for scopes.

You got it Johnc,
Don't laugh, but I put a Leupold VXII (used) air rifle scope on my .308. It may be overkill but air rifle scopes have better internals and will take the recoil. Works great for me.

Yes Toolman, I learned the hard way. I ruined a few good scopes with high powered springers before I learned the secret. It is hard to believe the demands imposed on a high powered air rifle scope. There is something about the timing of that forward lunge when the spring releases and then almost instantly the gun recoils.

J & G a Good Shop

To answer your question, yes, J & G is a good shop. They're in Prescott, AZ, only an hour from where I live. I prefer to use them above the local shops available to me.
