What is the cheapest calibre rifle ammo (other than .22 lr)? I mean brand-name factory ammo, not reloaded ammo or Korean war military surplus. In other words, what calibre is the cheapest to fire with new, brand-name ammo?
That pretty well sums it up... Wolf is sometimes close though. Other than .22 -- any of the military calibers are primarily the least expensive. .223, 5.45x39, 7.62x39, .308, 9mm, .38, .45, 9x18, and some more.
I think I saw a 1,000 rounds of 7.62 x 39 for 79.95 recently.
Sure, it's steel cased and Berdin primed and can't be reloaded, but for that price who cares???
Compared to .22 it has even more bang for the buck.
