why do they often have the same item listed multiple times under different item #'s?

Trying to order a magazine. They each have the same UPC but different item #'s.

The different numbers refer to the 3 different warehouses CTD ships from. Try to purchase items from the same warehouse to cut down on shipping charges.

also advertising gimmick for exposure to a slow moving item.

They have different warehouses. But I still don't know why the prices would be different. When I order from them I always try to make sure they all come from the same warehouse even if it means spending a little more cash because it saves on shipping.
