Cheap snubbie battle: H&R 732 vs Armscor M206

I'm looking to get a cheap snubbie and the two that I've found to be most interesting to me are the old H&R .32 S&W Long revolvers, models 732 and 733, and the currently produced Armscor M206 in .38 Special.

Used H&R's go for $150-$190 not including shipping on GB. The Armscor I've seen selling for as low as $200 brand new.

.38 is more common ammo than .32, but that's a none issue as I would reload the .32 S&W Long.

Thoughts on which is the better revolver and which is the better choice to get?

The H&R and sister company NEF also made basically the same model that you are looking at, but in 32 H&R magnum, which is a much better cartridge. They will also shoot 32 long, of course. I bought two of them a couple of years ago for less than $150 apiece. I think they might be called Model R73. It's just a thought.

My very first handgun was an H&R 929 .22 revolver.
Took it to range and could not hit the broadside of a barn with it.
Thought it might be me, but maybe the gun???

Next gun I got was a High Standard military model 107 .22 to learn how to shoot.
Made it all the way to expert class in Bullseye competitions with that gun.
So I figured it wasn't me after all, but the stupid H&R.

Later when I knew my capabilities, I decided to get another H&R to see if I could compete with it. It was a little better, but not much and could not make it accurate enough, so had to ditch that one too!

Lessons learned. A cheap gun is something I stay away from.

Never heard that before

These are snub nose revolvers, I'm not going to shoot them further than 15 yards and most of my shooting will be at half that range, so accuracy isn't top priority.

That H&R you had, how was the lockup? Was the trigger good? Did it eject the rounds well? Did it ever have any failures to fire? This is what's most important to me between the two cheap guns I made this thread about.

Personally I would go with the Armscor. In fact I plan on getting one day when one pops up at the right time. I prefer the 38 Special over the obsolete, and nearly antique 32 S&W Long. Plus I really like the Colt Detective Soecial look of the Armscor.

I am sure if you apply yourself......you can find something even cheaper.......just find a pawnshop

I've had both. Still have the M206. Both are 6 shooters. Both inexpensive. My 206 probably has a better trigger. I don't reload 32 so I got rid of it. Started getting too expensive to plink with it. Also, I'd rather have the 38 for defense in a pinch.

A box of 50 rounds of .32 s&w long cost me $14.99 last month at palmetto state armory. Is that really considered expensive? I haven't bought .38 special in a while but I imagine it can't be had for almost twice that.

Anything that's not the cheapest is considered expensive, hence why people only seem to shoot either 9mm, .38, or .22 LR. $15-16 is the going price for target .32 S&W Long ammunition.

This may sound strange, but I do have standards. :)

I love ugly /cheap revolver comparisons.

in this case, accuracy need only be moderate, but timing, trigger pull and lock up cannot be poor.

I kind of want a Armscor M206 to play with. But have a hard time justifying it when I look at S&W Snubbies on Gunbroker.

Examples:

$339 + shipping and transfer gets you a S&W 637.

My local dealer can probably match that price.

No lock S&W 442 - $324 + shipping and transfer.

The Armscor M200 4 inch barrel is tempting too but then I can probably find a used Stainless Steel Model 64 S&W for $100 to $160 more.

Here's one to keep an eye on:
