Cheap Shotguns.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these cheap imported shotguns I've been seeing adds for? Specifically, I'm curious about the guns from Brolin and Norinco (M37 and 1897 clones). Are these guns reliable and reasonably accurate. I need a pump gun to leave in my camper and might consider one of these weapons.

BTW. I already have a police model 870 and a Mossberg for turkey hunting. While they are both good weapons, I'd like to try something different.
 
I'm assuming you would be using this shotty for self defense. With that in mind, I would go with a proven performer. My preference is the Mossberg, the Remmy is good though. If you want something different, try a Winchester. I have under $100 in this Winny 1200.

All these are really made in China by Norinco.

They will mark guns to the importers spec.

Among other names under which these have been sold is:
Brolin.
Hawk.
Interstate Arms.
Norinco, and others.

The basic guns are:
The "Clone" of the Remington 870.
The copy of the Winchester M97.
The copy of the Ithaca M37.

General consensus from buyers is:
The Winchester M97 is OK, but not up to American standards of fit or finish. Some guns are fairly rough inside.
These make good Cowboy guns.

The Remington 870 copies are probably the best of the bunch, although again, not up to American standards.
Most buyers say they make very good HD and truck guns, and the price versus quality makes them a good buy.
Most buyers are happy with them.

The M37 copies get mostly bad reviews from actual buyers.
The guns tend to be very rough inside.
About the best most owners say is, they always go "BOOM" when the trigger is pulled, but that's about it.

As a truck, boat, farm, or knock-around gun where you won't loose much if it's damaged or lost, it's good.

I forgot to add that the metallurgy is NOT what you would find in a real 870, model 37, WINNIE M97, etc. I had a Hawk 870 clone and will tell you that the metal is real bad. Buyer Beware!!
 
I could never understand why someone would buy one of those 870 clones when real ones can be found for equal or less money. Too wierd.
I paid 100.00 for my last Wingmaster. I would be willing to bet it's a wee bit nicer than any commie made-by-slaves clone.
 
Isn't it funny that China hasn't cloned the mossberg 500?

Brand new Mossberg 500 18.5"/28" combos can be had for $220 locally. Maverick singles are even cheaper. I wonder if Norinco could effectively match those prices with comparable quality?
 
You bet.

At one time, I saw the milled steel Norinco copy of the Ithaca Model 37 selling for under $100.00.

The only problem would be that I don't think Norinco has any experience working with cast aluminum receivers.
 
For what it's worth, I have one of those EAA Bunda shootguns. I think it was imported from Turkey. It cost something like $200 bucks, it's real light, shoots anything I put in it (2 3/4- 3in) and actually looks pretty good. The only complaint is that spare parts are not readily avaliable, and the reciever is made of aluninium, dont know how well it will hold up. I've shoot a slew of Ducks and a couple of Geese abnd Turkey with it.
 
I baught a Maverick from wal - mart, and took it apart, short barell and pistol grip with some good sights and a few mods..... wanted an extra tactical, but for cheap. A slug gun.

I paid 120 for, did 100 dollars of mod. Shoots fine, I blew up a soda can at 70 yards with a slug..... try to beat for 220 dollars you know, but you could get for 120 like i did, just have a regular long shotgun. Longer barell has a nice tight pattern.

Makes good cheap slug gun.

I put a lot of shells through the piece of junk and was always impressed with how well it was for a cheap thing.

120 dollars.
