cheap "pistol" PCC that will feed hollowpoints?

I'm interested in getting a "starter" pistol caliber carbine in a "pistol" format. I've looked at several like the draco nak 9, psa shockwave ... etc. But I haven't seen anything on how well these feed hollowpoints, just how fun they are as "plinkers". I'm wanting one of these as a home defense tool. Any experience with these, or other alternatives/recomendations?

Have you looked into AR9 prices? Skip some of the more premium features (nicer braces, side chargers) and you could probably get close to your budget.

Yes but I don’t know which ones have reliability with defensive ammo, hollow points. Every review I’ve seen praises them as an affordable and fun “Plinker” because of the 9mm chambering but I’m specifically interested in one for home defense.

I think from the OP though he wants something that's still classified as a pistol, not a carbine.

Op is that correct?

Yep, looking for recommendations on brands/manufacturers, not alternative formats. I Kind of know that format is what I want. as long as one exists that does in fact feed hollow points

Stick with factory built rifles. Look around for a Freedom Ordinance pistol, I’ve seen the rifle version run hollow points.

I’m not sure you can get a guarantee that any of the options will run any hollow point without issue though.

Just found one listed for $630, great recommendation. Thank you, it’s definitely one I’ll put down to consider.

My Keltec Sub 2000 is the same length as my PSA AR pistol-with the brace set pretty short.
For what it's worth, an AR pistol won't fold up to 16 overall.

For me it’s more about the barrel length. I had an 11 in barrel m4 for a while in the military and loved how it maneuvered around indoor corners. I know pistols with pistol braces get close to rifle length but that little bit has a big feel to me

Google Reviews of whatever gun you like and there are many reviews and videos showing most of them firing different ammo as well as reviews from magazines like American Rifleman and others.

Most modern guns fire jhp just fine. It's rare when they don't. But you will want to do your own tests.

TNW Aero. You can get the pistol model for a little under $600. I started with the pistol model and purchased a rifle length barrel. Eats anything but its preference is +P rounds. I kid you not. Target loads will only toss the cases a couple of feet out.

Wow that extar looks great. Is the reliability from personal experience?
i have owned one for maybe 6 months. i shoot it quite a bit and it is my favorite fun gun. i have around a thousand through it and it has been totally reliable.

fmj, holliw points and home cast powder coated lead bullets.
