Cheap jacketed bullets

Trying to find some cheap 40 jacketed bullets.
I have a carbine that won't reliably feed plated bullets, they keep hanging up.
It eats up any kind of jacketed bullet,
it runs great on 150GN Nosler JHP but they are 45.99 for 250

I've ordered several thousand from RMR in the last year or so and they've had great prices and fast shipping. They're a top notch outfit.

RMR certainly does work for some needs and if you keep an eye on them, they will offer fast runs of odds and ends and varying kinds of stuff -- it seems like anything is possible including some VERY high quality pulldowns that you can't really find anywhere else.

With that said however... Most of the bullets he sells in volume are indeed plated bullets.

Two other sources for low cost true jacketed bullets are Zero brand bullet from Roze Distribution and Precision Delta bullets. Both offer .40cal slug and I've run plenty of 180gr from both outfits in my 10mm loads.

Waiting for my first order I placed with thebulletworks.net. I ordered Friday, truck says they'll be here tomorrow.

My 180's cost me $100 including shipping/1,000.

Never heard of RMR bullets. So based on this post, I thought I'd take a look. It appears to me that they only sell plated bullets. The OP is asking about jacketed bullets.

What am I missing?

Nick last I checked they do sell both. Some are new and some are pulls but they did have them as an option. I will agree that a lot of what they sell is plated.

RMR recently bought a few casting machines and offer se cast lead bullets -- but RMR's game has never been the manufacture of projectiles... He is a reseller of blems, pulldowns, over runs, Seconds (3rds 4ths, lol) and he gets things, slaps a price on them and ships.

If all you see is plated...
Wait a day or three.

He's had deals on high dollar defense slugs like Silvertip & Gold Dot pulldowns. Honestly, just about any kind of bullet COULD show up for sale.

RMR

Thanks for info Sevens and Brotherbadger. I looked deeper into RMR's site and found some pulldowns. I see what they're doing . . . If they don't have it, they don't show it. No "out of stock" items shown.

Yes -- it would be safe or accurate to say that except for his cast lead slugs... every thing he offers is a "one time deal" that is, of course, subject to be repeated!

I tend to buy in volume when he has something I want. If you buy 500 to "try", you may very well like them but never be able to get more of them.

Why are they not feeding?
If your gun does not like them because they are .001 wider than a jacketed bullet.
Try running the plated through a LEE push through sizing die of the appropriate diameter.

Or use a LEE carbide crimp die to insure proper diameter of the loaded round for cambering.

Other than that I cant think of a reason plated bullets would not chamber as well as jacketed.

Try those fixes 1st. Might still be able to use the cheap bullets.

Fortunately, I'm pretty fat with bullets right now. I have lots of all components, actually.

Not to turn this into a "shortage" post, but I still follow sites to see where we are with components. It appears that most things are still hard to find - primers n powder more so than bullets. Even brass is hard.
