Cheap and easy sandbags

While cleaning up in the garage I came across some old shot bags. Always looking to reduce, reuse, repurpose or recycle things I hit upon the idea of using them as sandbags for a shooting rest.

Here's what I did to make them cheap and easy. I found some ziplock bags of about the same size, filled them with sand, then put them inside the canvas shot bags. I just folded the end of the shot bag over but you could use zip ties, string, or some other method of holding the canvas shot bag shut. The plastic bag keeps the sand from leaking out and making a mess. I may go back and use duct tape over the end of the ziplocks to seal them once I have them adjusted to my liking. For a firmer bag fill the ziplock up to the top. If you want more "give" to have a deeper notch to rest your gun in just use a little less sand.

You could use the legs from old jeans that get made into shorts for a larger bag. Just find a larger ziplock or use a couple of smaller ones as suits your needs.
