Are their current revolvers Good? Decent? Junk?
I was thinking about buying a Bulldog just to have.

Interesting thread. Some good points OP makes. BUT I used to work with a guy that swore his SCCY was better than my Sig Sauer because SCCY had a better warranty.Did you read any of this thread: https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=612485
where the Op claimed his Charter was better than S&W?
When I bought my 44 Bulldog in 1976, it came with wood grips and yes, recoil was sharp. The first year I had it I split open the cylinder with a hot hand load probably more suited for an N frame. Sent it back to Charter and when it returned it had a new cylinder and new rubber grips. I would say the DA pull was also smoother, lighter. The rubber grip makes them far more pleasant to shoot, certainly easier than a 357 magnum snubbie.Test fire the .44 Bulldog before you buy it. For a gun that feels so good in the hand it feels like catching a hardball bare handed under recoil. YMMV.
