Charter Bulldog belt holsters

I suppose this has been beat around before but I am having a hard time finding a quality pancake style or thumb break holster for my Charter bulldog. Simply Rugged makes one but they are ungodly stiff and dig into my side. I have one for my judge and don't care for it. Has anyone found a Galco, Safariland or similar quality that will fit? I am not a fan of paddles - they can be compromised too quickly in a confrontation. For those who are not fans of the charter - hand loading and wolffe springs make a huge difference. I would rather send 250grains at 850fps than 115gr at 1,000fps any day of the week.

I carry a new generation Bulldog with the 2.5" barrel all the time.

May not be what you're after, but my holster is a very minimal belt slide made by Gould & Goodrich. I was looking for the similar Don Hume JIT Slide, but they were sold out when I was in the market.

The G&G was something like 25 bucks, and the lightweight Bulldog rides great in it at about the 3:00 to 4:00 position. With a larger and heavier firearm, this type of holster isn't all that great, but small and light guns like the Bulldog (and my S&W 642) do very well in these little holsters. The G&G model number is B891-62 and they are easy to find on sites like eBay and Amazon.

Here's a pic of my Mag Pug (same size as Bulldog) with the holster.

What kind of grips do you have on that mag pug?

Those are some NOS replacements for the old generation Charter Undercover. I picked them up for cheap at my LGS's "box o' miscellaneous grips"

They are great for concealment, but not so great for shooting.

Far better are the old-style Bulldog grips. Very ergonomic, and great for concealment. Here's a pic of them on my current generation Bulldog. These grips on this gun along with that little belt holster I mentioned are one of my favorite carry combos.

I like slides for use around the homestead but I want something a little more secure for out in public. I am really looking for something like a combat master , something OWB that rides high and tight with a thumb snap. Targus makes one - it will work but not great workmanship. A fletch would do but getting something that fits well is hard, the 2.5" bulldog is a breed in itself. Had an almost bad experience with an open top holster and my Springfield EMP. got loose under my coat - not good. Frame size and barrel length don't match that many 'factory' guns.

Theis Holsters

You can try this guy. Theis Holsters (pronounced: "Tice," like dice or rice). I don't know if he makes exactly what you're looking for, but he sure does good work. I get all my holsters from him. . .

Revolver rigs....

Here are a few brands you might want to check.
note; due to high demand & the QC issues, some holsters might take weeks or even months to get.
Always call first to make sure you know if the shop can make it & how long it will take.

Milt Sparks, Don Hume, Greg Kramer, Kirkpatrick Leather, El Paso Saddlery, Mitch Rosen, DeSantis, Safariland, Bianchi-intl, High Noon Holsters, Mernickle, Del Fatti, Alessi.

Bianchi #8

Back in the day I had an early, 3" Bulldog, and carried and shot it alot. In fact, I shot it enough that it went way out of time, and rattled like an old Chevy.

I carried it in a Bianchi #8 that was intended for J-frame and similar Smith's. I also had an upside down type shoulder rig, also for a Smith-J that worked real well too.

Most holsters made for the Ruger SP101 work with the Bulldog. I have both guns and use the same leather owb holster for both. I can't remember the manufacturer and it isn't stamped on the holster.
