charter arms pathfinder

I am looking at a couple .22 S/L/LR revolvers and I have seen mixed reviews on the pathfinder, anyways I was wondering what are you're experiences with It? How accurate Is It? Is the Trigger Good? I picked one up and liked the low profile sights, but I am concerned of how accurate It Is, how reliable It Is, how long It will last, (expecting at least a couple years) or should I buy a highly reliable and accurate and also highly expensive ruger single Ten? I am getting a headache from all this

Charter Arms Target Pathfinder,,,
I bought one about 5 months ago for a gift,,,
The trouble with the gun is I like it and may keep it myself.

Nope, Sarah will be getting this gun,,,
Just as soon as I make an OSU Cowboys rig for it.

The finish is matte stainless steel,,,
That decision was probably a cost-cutting measure,,,
So it's not as shiny as most stainless steel handguns out there.

I wasn't prepared for the gritty trigger pull it had,,,
But notice I used the word "had" because it's smoothing out with use,,,
I flushed the innards with some CLP and the grittiness seems to have been cured.

The only real bad thing is the front sight,,,
It's that dull stainless finish and it disappears on you,,,
But a teeny amount of orange sight paint alleviated that one problem.

The nicest thing about it is that it's very inexpensive,,,
I paid $348.00 for mine just a few months ago,,,
That was a brand new in the box gun.

If you can find one to handle,,,
You just might be surprised as I was.

Here is my Pathfinder side-by-side,,,
With a S&W Model 34 J-frame.

I own three S&W J-frame rimfire revolvers,,,
Two Model 34's and a Model 63.

I'm as accurate with the Pathfinder,,,
As I am with the S&W's.

FWIW, I bought a new Dual Cylinder 4" Target Pathfinder in 2008, and have yet to experience any issue except for the aforementioned sight coloration (they are the same olor as the bbl/rib, etc).

The gun's much more accurate with the LR cylinder installed than the WRM cylinder - a direct result of the different ammo, obviously.

Since I abhor rubber bumpers (unless the gun's a real handful, like a .44BD), AND all Charter gripframes are the same size/shape, I installed an older set of square walnut Target Grips on mine - which I liked better than the walnut BullDog-type grips (I switched them all around, before deciding what grip was to stay on what gun).

The thing about buying Charter is that anyone can buy in confidence that the company will stand behind their product.

In fact, Nick Ekers (CA Prexy), even answered the customer service phone, when I called one Saturday; and he told me during our conversation that, while he understood his guns are made by human beings, nontheless his goal is to manufacture the best guns as possible, and if/when that's not possible, he personally guarantees that "whatever", would be "made right". :)

Here it is, with the issue rubber bumpers, in between a 6" H&R 999 Sportsman 9-shot LR, and an 8-shot, 5", .22 WRM Taurus 941 that soon went down the road because (brand new) it was so badly out of time that it spit debris back into my face (I wear shooting glasses, Thank God) for the first 3 cylindersful that I tried. .

Need I say: No more Taurii for me ? .

I bought one a few months ago and absolutely love it. Accurate, reliable, inexpensive, and looks/feels great too. It's certainly not a tuned S&W, Ruger, or Colt, but out of all the less costly options out there, it is definitely my choice for a DA/SA 22lr. In fact, I like it so much it encouraged me to take the plunge and buy a Bulldog in 44spl also.

The only issue I have with it is the trigger, but as Aarond said it is smoothing out with use and I'm sure will eventually be a pretty decent trigger. The front sight is also lacking in contrast as stated before, but since this is easily fixed with a dab of paint, it's no real concern.

I Just bought a charter arms pathfinder for $379 +Tax! The only negatives I have found from fooling around with It at home Is the above mentions like the front sight, and my finger sometimes if too low gets pinched by the trigger. I can fix that with paint and filing, smoothing, and polishing the Trigger, besides that the cylinder is very tight tolerances. I'm Just worried about the "dirty" .22 bullet Getting powder at the tip of the cylinder and barrel, will it lock it up?

Will it lock up?

I'm Just worried about the "dirty" .22 bullet Getting powder at the tip of the cylinder and barrel, will it lock it up?

I doubt it,,,
Hey, it could happen,,,
Depends on how dirty your ammo is.

I went to the range last weekend,,,
I put 150 rounds of old mil-surp Remington LRN through it with no problems.

There's really only one way to find out,,,
Shoot the heck out of the gun and see what happens.

Congrats on your purchase,,,
I think you'll like the gun.
