Charter arms pathfinder potential problem

When I pull the hammer back most of the time It clicks three times, sometimes It only clicks two and when I touch the cylinder it clicks the third time. Why Is this, Is this normal because It's a .22? I sent It back to Charter arms and they replaced the cylinder but It still does It, they also said the old cylinder was bad.
 
I could be normal if you are pulling it back to slowly. If you pull the hammer back faster or normally as if you are shooting it, and the cylinder clicks in like it's supposed to then their is no problem.

The inertia of the cylinder turning to keep it turning to complete the cocking cycle plays into this.
 
The number of clicks, as the hammer is pulled back into single action mode, can seem to vary with how fast it's done.
The second click is there, but not always discernible.
But when the hammer is fully cocked, the cylinder should be in position and held firmly by the bolt/cylinder lock.

Check the cylinder stop, to see if it's what's needing to snap into place.
 
The timing is off on the revolver.
It may need the hand, cylinder latch, and cylinder replaced --- depends on what piece is bad.

I guess you can pull the trigger fast to try to use momentum to line up the chamber and the barrel .......... but I would rather have it fixed so that slow DA pull works right and cocking the hammer slowly for SA works right, too.

Have a finger or support thumb touching the cylinder as it rotates when the trigger is pulled/hammer is cocked to remove momentum when checking for timing issues.
 
this occurred with the two bulldog 44s a had in the 80s.... one new out of the box, the other after less than 200 rounds...... sent them back to the factory and charter sent them back saying they were in proper working order. I even sent in the crescent slivers of Win STHP that was shaved by the forcing cone because of improper timing.

with charter arms you either get one correctly made or one that is atrocious.... that's too much hit or miss for me. the only charter arms I have now is an older off duty which I inspected thoroughly before buying, no more buying on good faith for this brand.

Sounds like it is out of time as already stated. I'd contact Charter Arms and send it back to have it repaired - and ask them to do it right thius time. If the cylinder doesn't turn and lock in to place with the chamber lined up with the forcing cone - like it's supposed to - it's going to be a problem you don't want - regardless of what caliber it is.
 
So I am assuming you had contact with Charter Arms? Just what did they say in regards to it? What was their response? Most companies will take care of what is obviously warranty work . . . you sort of leave everybody hanging on with "they couldn't fix the problem". In fairness to both parties, I kind of doubt that "they couldn't fix it". . . after all, they made it.

I don't have a CA product and never have . . . but let's get both sides of the story out there . . . I know several who have Pathfinders and they love them. Or did you just trade your's in and pass the problem on to another unsuspecting buyer down the one?
 
Bed bug, I have personal reflections of Charter Arms customer service, ordered a Chaparral rifle (distributed and warrantied by CA) which would not cycle right out of the box. Actually was still in the gun shop but I paid in advance and held allegiance to the owner. CA refused to pay return shipping, replaced the barrel and bolt, took a month to return and informed me they would no longer warranty Chaparral products. On the plus side the rifle is a real shooter ever since. That same gun shop would not order CA pistols for customers because most required return for repairs. Not hearsay, personal experience.
 
I hope you disclosed this to the person you trades with? Did you tell and show him the issues? Did you tell him the CA told you about fixing it
