Charter Arms discontinues their "classic bulldog"?

JERRYS.

a while back I saw on the C.A. web site the 3" pencil bbl. listed as the "classic". this gun is now absent from their list of products. anyone know why? I have a S&W revolver I'd trade for an original 3", even thought of selling it to buy the new "classic"......but now its no longer offered.

A bit more info please,,,

Is this the Charter you are wanting?

3" in .44 Special.

And what model/cartridge S&W do you have for trade?

Generally when a manufacturer discontinues a model its for one of two reasons. A newer version replaced it or poor sales numbers.

I can't say that I've ever seen the pencil barrel on their website anytime in recent memory. Not 100% on my recollection, but.... how long ago did you see it?

I remember seeing it on their website at least a couple of years ago but always with the disclaimer that it was "coming soon". For a while I regularly asked about it at my LGS without news or success. To my knowledge it never came at all, let alone soon. I think Charter may have quietly shelved the project for unknown reasons. I certainly have never seen one.

I just spoke with Donna at Charter Arms, she stated that the classic bulldog .44 spl is set to be released in 2015. we were discussing something else at the time and I did not inquire as to when in 2015.

If they ever do produce it, for some reason I have to believe I might get one. And I don't even shoot .44 Special. Or Magnum.

I just spoke with Nick at C.A. on another issue... I asked about the bulldog classic and he stated that they are already making them. I did not ask for a release date because I called for something else.

I've shot the older .44 bulldog. Kicked a mite even with rnl .44 spls.

Always wished S&W would make a 2 1/2 inch 686 fixed sights, thin barrel, round butt, stainless .44 five shooter but they never did.

No choice but a heavy .44 N frame (Lee Horton 3 inch .44 spl.) or light .357 (66 combat magnum).

I've got 'em both but would prefer the L frame in .44, but lighter.

I got that particular model for Christmas this year. Really looking forward to shooting it this weekend. I have always had a desire for this particular model, fit and finish wise, it's no S&W, lets hope it shoots well.

This is a picture of the one that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. The price was too good to walk away from. It took a week to get ammo for it, as I had to drive 90 miles to Cabella's as no stores in the area had any .44 Special, and finding brass for it has proven to be futile at this time.

My only dislike is that bass rims hang up on the grip panel when extracting. I will be trimming some down to take care of that though.

So I found as well. Empties seem to clear fine on mine with the Pachmayr Compac grip set installed.

m&p45,

Try Amazon, I've found allot of hard to find reloading things (32S&W, 32H&R brass) on there lately.

No more "Son of Sam" bulldog's? Times change..

they're suppose to be putting out the Classic Bulldog this year. of course there are some changes to it that wont allow parts from the original to mate up correctly without some expert gunsmithing.....
