Any experience with the "Target" Bulldog? Here's my application (always need to pretend I have a use for a new toy): Light weight woods revolver. The Bulldog weighs half my GP -100. I have other heavy hitters, so don't need suggestions for other guns, just experience with this one .

I think it would make an awesome "light woods revolver."

My yard gun is a similar setup.

Smith Model 69 loaded with light 44 mag around 44 special velocities. I love it. I carry it in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake. for me it's an awesome set up.

I don't think you could go wrong with the Target Bulldog. Should fit your needs just fine.

I have one that I got for exactly that purpose. The blue was well worn from a lot of carrying, so I gave it a coat of GunKote. It's very light and recoil is firm, but it's a delight to carry.

Charter's customer service is terrific.

I bought one when they first came out, mid eighties, I think. Very accurate, recoil was well you knew when you shot it. Perfect for what you have in mind.

I use a Charter Arms .44 special Bulldog as a woods and hiking gun, and carry it in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake:

I love it.

How is the felt recoil with these? What can you compare it to? I am interested in a snub of that caliber but the light weight concerns me.

With my 2.5" 44 special, recoil was intolerable for me until I changed the grips. ANY other grip seems to help.

Shooting it is like my airweight 38 with factory grip, with the Pac grip, its a breeze. I can shoot a box of 50 240 grain @ 800 fps (hotter than any factory) with a smile to the end.

I found Pachmayr grips more comfortable than the factory wood grips, but they are several ounces heavier. Since light weight is the name of the game for this gun, I usually carry it with the wood grips.

After looking around a bit, I ordered a 2 1/2" black finish Bulldog from Bud's. My first purchase from them. I already have dies, so I ordered brass and some 200 grain XTP from Midway. I was thinking longer sight radius, as I never shot well with my last short barreled gun, but I guess it's time for another try. Not going for 50 yard shots with this thing anyway. Couldn't beat Bud's price.

How is the felt recoil with these?
Like all small handguns, especially knobby revolvers, it's all in the grip.
The size and shape of the actual grip, and the gripping technique.
With a good grip and a good gripping technique, I would compare it to a full sized 44 magnum, with factory defensive loads.
How bad, depends if the shooter's focus is on the gun or the target.
