WARNER ROBINS --- Charlton Heston will visit Warner Robins on Friday. Insert your Moses, "Planet of the Apes" or "Ben Hur" joke here.
"We are very excited to have him coming to town," said Judy Sanders, acting chairwoman of the Houston Republican Party.
"Everybody is always complaining about the traffic in town," Sanders said. "... He played Moses. Maybe we can get him to part Watson Boulevard."
Heston, a veteran actor and president of the National Rifle Association, will speak on Second Amendment rights and in support of U.S. Rep. Saxby Chambliss, R-Moultrie, who is running against Jim Marshall in Georgia's 8th District.
Heston is scheduled to make his first appearance at an 8:30 a.m. breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Forsyth. At 1 p.m., Heston and Chambliss will conduct a gun-rights rally at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center in Warner Robins.
Chambliss also is expected to speak at the function, provided he's not needed in Washington, Chambliss spokeswoman Lindsay Taylor said. She also said her office would not be asking Heston to part anything.
"Were just pleased that he's taking time out of his busy schedule to come to Georgia," she said.
Admission is $2 per person, with proceeds will go to Chambliss' campaign. Those interested are asked to contact Chambliss' office at 888-747-9696.
