Would appreciate all reviews/comments on the performance and reliabilty of a charles daly 45 cal. pistol. Thanks in advance, hope you guys could help me out.

Fired a CD last weekend at the angeles range. it was an OLD One, the SN was in the three digit range. I've told the new ones are improved. I tell ya, I love my SA even more after trying this one.

Bad part:
The serrations on the slide might as well not be there.

The trigger seemed to be either very loose or have two stage, and the last stage required at least 7 or more pounds to pull, very abrupt, the resulting recoil threw me quite a bit.

The slide would not go into battery after every three rounds, this has been a problem from the start and the trips of shipping back and forth has not fixed it.

Good:
the ambi slide stop and safety was nice, the magazines were 8 rounds mec-gars, very nice looking mags.

This is a gun from KBI imports, one of my friend bought it, he thought about selling it, but after shooting my SA, he's SURE he's gonna get rid of it asap.

Yes my brother, smitty21, has it right. I do love my Charles Daly FS model with serial number beginning with CD. The pistol is very well made. No tool or machining marks, very nice slide serrations. Performs flawlessly, haven't had one jam using 2 different brands of 230gr ball ammo, and Federal Hydrashoks. The only thing I have changed is the recoil spring, from the stock 16# to a Wilson Combat 18.5#. The gun is also amazingly accurate. Hey smitty, did I take care of that jam problem you were having with your Springfield? :D

Got a good look at the stainless version (empire grade?) and I really liked what I saw except the fit of the mainspring housing to the frame. I realized this flaw appeared across the spectrum of the line. That would tend to make me think there is a flaw in the manufacturing of the frame, otherwise why hasn't been fixed yet? Certainly, I am not the only one to notice this.

Clarence,
I have a two-tone model FS, and I think it is a great buy. With all the custom features that you will normally found in a full-house pistol. I changed the recoil spring and the extractor because I think these two parts are crucial in the performance of any 1911. So far it is very reliable and accurate. My two cents worth.
