Charles Daly now "on line" !

Glock 21s are running about $470
in TX. What's the advantage of this gun?

Ruger P-97s for the mid $350s.

Is that the MSRP or street you quote?

The $554.95 is MSRP for the Polymer wide bodied version.
When you consider the base model sells for $315 from JC Armoury & its MSRP is $469.95, I'd like to think that the actual selling price of the Poly would be $454.95 :)

Why want one?
Why not ! ;)

Good Evening HS:

I browsed the CD's site and it seems there is no such a single parts of it made in the Philippines. So, this pistol really deserves to compete in the pistol arena.

Since the time this CD is being brought up in the thread it was said that it is PI made, but with the site explanation there is no trace of being a PI made. The products seems well accepted also by the US public. Wish I could have one of it also for the inventory.

Thanks for the good info.

The one I handled a few months ago said "Made In Philippines" on it.

I personnally don't see that this has anything to do with whether it "deserves to compete in the pistol arena" or not.

OTOH maybe they don't mention it on the webpage because they're not too proud of it

I talked to the Charles Daly rep at the SHOT show. he told me the factory is n the Makati area. They are setting up their US headquarters in the Las Vegas area.

At least at the booth they were very open about the guns being made in the PI.

One of my shooting buddies has one and it is a nice gun, many "custom" features on an inexpensive gun.

Hello Gents,

First of all PI is now referred as PH.

I was at ARMSCOR two months ago and I saw Field .22 LR True Youth Bolt Action Single Shot on display. I checked the website and the price is USD 155. WTF, the price here in the PH is USD 175. How come?

Also the factory is not located in Makati, it is in Marikina. The Marketing arm of ARMSCOR is Squires Bingham located at Ortigas Centre.

I had my first local version of CD in 9mm last month and I tried it at the range and handling is good. Too bad I was not able to let stdalire to try it.

I talked with one SB agent few months back and he told me that ARMSCOR is only a subcontractor for some parts not all.
Maybe that's the reason why there is no indication in the web page that its "Made in the Philippines".

Of course, I might be wrong.

Phil, I'm sorry for my statement. I have no implications on degrading the CD being a Philippine made. In fact, I am proud that our products be it wholly manufactured or partially made in the Phils., I am proud of it bearing "Made in the Phils.". Charles Daly, Shooters Arms, Armscor and Squirebingham are just well Philippine Made firearms marketed ouside the country.

Going back to the referred site, it did not mention any Philippine workmanship even just a spring of it. That might be one strategy to make it more acceptable to US market who don't like to hear made in the Philippines.

Vega, next time we will be on the range, I will try your Charles Daly version. I have seen how it did compete to the Mark IV Colt .45 used on that day. Lets see if finances looks better and I will buy the CD rifle version.

Thanks

The problem with CDs is not that they're made in the Phillipines, but that they have historically fallen into the P.O.S. category...I have handled a couple of CDs and they were pure junk, gritty rattlebox jam-o-matics. That was around a year ago, though, and more power to them if they are making good products now.

Have to agree with Castle on this one. I'm at a loss to see the appeal of the Daly, unless they've stepped up the quality big time from the last sample I saw.

I handled two Charles Daily's yesterday. A fullsize and a Commander size. I compared them next to a couple of Kimbers and a few Springfield Armories'.

I was impressed. The beavertail safety wasn't as pretty as the Kimber or S.A. But fit/finish looked good, actions were smooth and trigger not bad.(The S.A. trigger pulls were the best BTW). Seemed like a great deal for a 1911 under $400.00

Just my opinion....

I've had my CD for about six months now. There were three of us that got them as soon as they distributor had them, in my area. (So CA. USA)

Mine refused to functon reliably, (FTFeed and FTEject) instead of having a local smith work on it I sent it back to the factory, service was good, it came back and has not failed to function with any ammo. (even the wide mouth Corbons do well) The mecGar Italian mags are fine, I am very pleased, glad I got it.

I think I paid $285.00 which was probably 10% over cost at that time.

I am a happy shooter.

I would not pay over $400 for the gun, I would rather the Kimber at this price point.
