In another post I mentioned my wifes new Kel-Tec p32.This post is about my new toy! A Mid sized CD 1911. I picked it up earlier this week and have only put about 125 rds. through it. So Far it seems to be doing great. I have been shooting UMC 230 gr.metal case and 230 gr. American ammo. It is more accurate than me and the trigger is light and crisp.I can see how some people can get addicted to the 1911's. I have had about 5 shots that failed to let the slide go into battery. It didn't jam, the slide just stayed locked back and I had to press the slide release lever manually. It may be the cheap ammo or it may need to break in a little, Anybody have any ideas about this? . I won't be alarmed untill I get a few hundred rds. thru it. All in all, I am pleased with it, but I think I will have to go for a Kimber Ultra carry next!

First, quit using that American junk unless you want a kb. Second, make sure you aren't inadvertently accuating the slide release with your thumb. If memory serves correctly, doesn't the CD come with an extended slide release? If so, change it for normal size or watch that thumb on recoil (usually the weak hand thumb).

I second it - 86 the American. Not the first round made it to battery ... traded it for PMC. The copper "jacket" isn't - IMNSHO.

I don't know the CD model, but if yours is about an inch or so shorter that the full size 1911 (more or less along the lines of the Colt Officers model, than I just viewed one in .45 yesterday. Nice feel and look. It is priced NIB @ $369.95 at this shop. Yours?

I'd also checked on Makorovs. There was the Russian (new) @ $149.95, E. German @ $230+, and Bulg @ $169.95. Either the Russian or Bulg was .380, the other two in 9x(M).

I was surprised at the $230+, blued with some holster wear.

I had never heard of the American Ammo and it was cheap and available so I wound up with a box of it and a box of Speer Lawman and I stopped at another shop and picked up some UMC. I couldnt really tell any difference in it other than the Speer left unburned powder on my forearm. The pistol responded the same with all three types of ammo, every now and then it would fail to chamber a round and I would have to hit the slide release manualy. The CD Mid sized doesn't have the extended slide release like their full size does and it would be hard for my thumb to get close enough to it while firing to touch it. This CD is a 4" barrel with full sized grips, I beleive it is comparable in size to a colt commander? It comes with 2 Mec-Gar 8 rd. clips. Thanks for any advise and tips--C.L.
