Saw this on another site and thought I would pass it on for a "What it's worth":

To all our friends, fans, supporters and consumers of Charles Daly and by extension, KBI products, I regret to inform you that the rumors of our demise are true.

KBI is going out of business and closing its doors, effective today, January 29, 2010.

I don't want to go into each and every detail as to why this has occurred, except to say that there have been a multitude of events over the past five years that have contributed to our current situation.

For those of you with ongoing service requirements please be advised that we are currently negotiating with several companies that will be performing after-sale service of Charles Daly, CD Defense and Jericho firearms. As soon as we have finalized a contract with one of these companies we will post the name, address and contact details of that company on www.CharlesDalyForum.com, so you will know who to contact to obtain service on your KBI firearm.

Again, I wish to thank all of you that have supported our company, Charles Daly and all the other fine firearms that we have sold over the years.. This spells the end of KBI but I imagine it will certainly not mean the end of Charles Daly® and CD Defense™. Look for this excellent brand to resurface in the very near future.

Sincerely,
Michael B. Kassnar, President
K.B.I., Inc.

Thanks for the heads-up, 1-oz. It's like déjà vu all over, again. Those of us who've been into scatter guns for any significant time have come to think of the Charles Daly brand as the Phoenix of shotguns. They go out in flames only to return re-born. I've always thought of there being some mystique about Daly guns… you hear a lot about them, but none of the shooters I compete with ever talk about owning one. You'll go for years without hearing anything about a Charles Daly, then someone new acquires rights to the name and it's Phoenix rising, again.

It also sounded like on their web site they may reopen with the one original person. Its bad that it has happend and I hope things work out as its another company loosing their work force.

Nuts. I own one of their semis that I won in a raffle, which has performed great for me. And the support on their forum and via call-in was excellent.

I love my 12 ga. Charles Daly over/under shotgun.

It's shot lots of birds and clay pigeons in the last 30 + years.

They will be back.

olddrum - SKB has closed their doors; HOWEVER, the US distributor and warehouse has parts and will honor warranty. Not so sure about CD

I don't believe Charles Daly ever made shotguns. I think they were just an importer & had contracts with other makers. Anyone know?

That's my understanding. It seems the original Charles Daly (b. 1839) was an importer. And the successors have been importers, too. He and his partners started importing higher grade guns around 1875 and continued until WW I. The Charles Daly name was acquired by Henry Modell after WW I.

Chas Daly has been a name known by many and of course the name date far back in history. I, at one time owned a C. Daly o/u. The gun worked just fine, it looked great and never let me down.
Unfortunatey, I think the name has lost its history and its recognition. I suspect Chas. Daly is finally, totally dead.

funny, I just was looking at the Baby Eagle/Jerricho from Magnum Research - importer. The new importer of this fine IWI weapon is Charles Daly, IWI must kicking themselves.

Don't think you'll see any Ithaca purchse of SKB tooling. Ithaca is coming out with their own new model of O/U, the Phoenix.

Humm… with a name like Phoenix, perhaps it should be a Charles Daly. ;)

Charles Daly has never made ANY gun. They are strictly a brand name and all of their firearms have been produced under contract at various manufacturers - some good, others not so good. I think the best CD's ever made were the Japanese Miroku shotguns.

I'm happy

I just received my new Charles Daly diamond 3 yesterday. No warranty anymore. But a great gun, at a great price.
I'm going to pattern it today, took it all apart and cleaned, lubed, and inspected yesterday.

It's a well made piece, I really doubt I'll need that warranty.

Very pleased with my purchase.
